The Russian River Valley abounds with charming small towns and gently rolling hills covered with vineyards, apple trees and native oaks. The roadways tend to be two-lane, the kind you like to linger on, intrigued by what might be around the next corner. Wineries pepper the area; some are open daily and some by appointment, so check our wineries listing to see if you need to call ahead.
We have five suggested driving tours listed to the left — each encompassing several wineries — allowing you to make the most of your time. We hope they help you enjoy your stay here in our special part of the world.
No matter the winery tours you choose, you’ll find the countryside of the Russian River Valley filled with beauty and adventure at every turn. River Road West Winery Tour DeLoach Vineyards Sunce Winery & Vineyard Pellegrini Family Vineyards Harvest Moon Winery Martinelli Vineyards & Winery Russian Hill Estate Winery Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards Joseph Swan Vineyards (Winery) Korbel Champagne Cellars River Road runs west from Highway 101 just north of Santa Rosa, and joins up with Highway 116 in Guerneville heading toward the Pacific Ocean. Just half a mile west of the 101/River Road intersection is the small town of Fulton and Kendall Jackson Winery Tasting Room. Travel down Fulton Road south to Piner Road and turn right. At the intersection of Olivet Road are the wineries of DeLoach, Sunce, Hook & Ladder, Pellegrini and Harvest Moon. So many to choose from!
If you want to stick with the River Road area, head west on River Road from Fulton about 2 miles (just before you get to Olivet Road) and you will find Martinelli Winery on your left. Just past Olivet Road, turn north of River Road onto Slusser Road and follow it to find Russian Hill Winery near the intersection with Laughlin Road. If you return to River Road, you'll come to Woodenhead Vintners, then Joseph Swan Winery and Martin Ray Winery are located just down Laguna Road on the left hand side. Six miles west of the intersection of River Road and Trenton-Healdsburg Road is Korbel Winery and Deli. The distance on River Road from 101 to the Korbel Winery is 12 miles and contains ten wineries for your enjoyment. |
